Tata Nexon CNG: India’s First Turbo-Petrol CNG SUV with AMT Gearbox to Launch Soon

Tata Motors is set to revolutionize the Indian automotive market with its upcoming Tata Nexon CNG, which will feature India’s first turbo-petrol CNG technology. In a significant upgrade, this compact SUV will offer two gearbox options: a five-speed manual and an AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). Powered by a 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine, the Nexon CNG is expected to produce 118 bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque in its standard petrol mode, with slightly reduced figures in CNG mode.

The Nexon CNG will be part of a broader Nexon lineup that includes multiple powertrain options, such as petrol, diesel, CNG, and electric, catering to a wide range of customer preferences. Tata Motors’ current CNG portfolio includes popular models like the Tiago, Tigor, Altroz, and Punch, all of which have been strong performers in their respective segments.

As for pricing, the Nexon CNG is expected to carry a premium of up to Rs 80,000 over the standard petrol version, positioning it between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 15.80 lakh. Upon its launch, it will compete directly with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG in the compact SUV segment.
