Xiaomi Set to Enter Indian EV Market with SU7, Promising 800 km Range on Single Charge

 

In recent years, the demand for electric vehicles (EVs) has surged among Indian customers. Currently, Tata Motors dominates this segment, holding over 65% of the total electric car sales in India with popular models like the Tata Nexon EV, Tata Punch EV, Tata Tiago EV, and Tata Tigor EV. Now, the renowned Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is gearing up to enter the Indian EV market. According to Rushlane, Xiaomi plans to showcase its first electric car, the SU7, in Bengaluru, India. Media reports suggest that the Xiaomi SU7 could soon be launched in the Indian market. Here’s a detailed look at the company's plans, along with the car’s battery and driving range specifications.

Competing with Tesla Model 3

Xiaomi, already one of India's leading smartphone sellers, aims to diversify its product lineup. At the upcoming event in Bengaluru, Xiaomi will unveil several new products across different categories, including the luxury electric car SU7. This move showcases Xiaomi’s engineering and manufacturing prowess beyond smartphones. In China, the Xiaomi SU7 competes directly with the Tesla Model 3, one of the world’s best-selling electric cars.

Exceptional Range and Performance

The Xiaomi SU7 is expected to compete directly with the BYD Seal in India, with a similar price range. The car measures 4,997 mm in length, 1,963 mm in width, and 1,455 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm and a boot space of 517 liters. The top-spec Xiaomi SU7 Max Performance variant, likely to be launched in India, will feature a 101kWh battery pack, offering an impressive range of 800 kilometers on a single charge. The car boasts a top speed of 265 kilometers per hour.
