Citroen is expanding its portfolio in India with the upcoming launch of the Basalt SUV. The 30-second teaser video offers a glimpse into several features of this highly anticipated vehicle.

The teaser primarily showcases the SUV’s interior. It reveals a 10.2-inch infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and stylish C-shaped AC vents. The Basalt will also feature leatherette seats, automatic climate control, a toggle switch, and a rotary dial.
Engine Specifications
Reports suggest the Basalt will come with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine, similar to other models in Citroen’s lineup. Additionally, a turbo engine option might be available. The manual variant is expected to deliver 110 PS and 190 Nm of torque, while the six-speed automatic transmission variant will offer 110 PS and 205 Nm of torque.
Market Positioning
The Citroen Basalt will be the company’s fourth product in India, slotting between the C3 Aircross and the C5 Aircross. Currently, Citroen’s Indian lineup includes the C5 Aircross, C3, C3 Aircross with ICE, and the electric eC3.
Competitors
The Basalt will enter the Indian market as a coupe SUV, a segment currently unoccupied by other brands. However, it will face competition from Tata’s upcoming Curvv, set to launch on August 7.
